Carmen (Connie) Anita Pruitt

Carmen (Connie) Anita Pruitt, age 92, passed away May 21, 2019 in Gainesville, Florida.  She was born in Ocala, Florida on May 12, 1926, the daughter of Fred and Wilma Newbern.

Connie was married to James (Jim) F. Pruitt, who passed in 2006, for almost sixty-three years.  They had four children, Shirley Ann Hemmingway (deceased), Anita Jean Britton of Scroggins, Texas, Jim D. Pruitt of High Springs, Florida, and Charles Gary Pruitt (deceased).

Connie moved to High Springs in July, 1966, and lived there until her death.  She and her husband operated a U-Pick-It fruit and vegetable stand on property located at Newberry Road and I-75 in Gainesville for thirty years.

Connie’s life revolved around her family and the High Springs Seventh-Day Adventist Church.  She played the piano and sang in church for many years.

Connie and her late husband, Jim, had three grandchildren, Norma Jean Jones of Bonita Springs, LA; Richard Britton of Lincoln, NE; and Tina Giberson of Waynesville, NC, along with five great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.  Connie is also survived by two daughters-in-law, Donna Williams of Deltona, FL and Sandee Pruitt of High Springs, FL.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 31, 2019 from 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Evans Carter Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, High Springs, FL.
