Clifton Ray McDaniel, Sr., 79, of Alachua, Florida, passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022.  Clifton was born in Salisbury, North Carolina on May 14, 1942 to Sherriell Ford and Hilda Rumple McDaniel. Clifton was married to Barbara Ann (Smith) McDaniel.

Clifton was the owner of Mack’s Grocery in Alachua and was employed by Florida Pest Control as a pest control technician.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading western stories, and spending time with his family.  He was a City of Alachua Commissioner in 1974.

Clifton is survived by his sons, Ray (Tammarin) McDaniel of Alachua, Florida and Michael (Kristin) McDaniel of Gainesville, Florida; his daughters, Cheryl Leona Fowler of Alachua, Florida and Denise (Gary) Lilly of MacClenny, Florida; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Clifton is preceded in death by his parents, Sherreill and Hilda McDaniel and his wife, Barbara Ann McDaniel.

The graveside funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Newnansville Cemetery, Alachua, Florida.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022.
