Garnette Claire Hathaway, age 69, of Alachua, FL, passed away on July 10th due to a lifelong heart condition.
Garnette was born in Miami, FL on March 28th, 1959. She graduated from Coral Springs High School and continued on to receive an Associates of Arts degree from Miami Dade Community College.
She was married to Larry Bowman on August 26th, 1972; they were married for 19 years.
Garnette worked as an artist and sculptor for Museum Services for 5 years, as well as independent artwork for numerous galleries and museums. She enjoyed drawing, painting, writing, music and singing.
Garnette is survived by her children, Michael Bowman and Danielle Robards, her mother, Claire Kimber, and her sister, Lindsey Pleiman.
She is preceded in death by her father, Ermel Hathaway, and her step-father, Kenneth A. Kimber.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the National Young Arts Foundation, 2100 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, Fl 33137.
The Rite of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Madeleine Catholic Church, 17155 NW US Hwy 441, High Springs, FL. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Madeleine Memorial Gardens.
