In Loving Memory of

Gary Michael Brown

 -

Gary Michael Brown, 73, of High Springs, Florida, suddenly passed away on Sept. 2, 2021. Gary was predeceased by his loving family members Elvin and Bertha Rea (parents) and siblings Charles (Anne), Ray (Martha), Herman and Otis (Kathy) Brown and Diane Brown McGuire (Thomas).

Gary is survived by his loving family, wife Christina; his children, Nicholas and Alexandra; his sister, Hilda Davis (Robert); Jim Alex, Ted Alex (Sonya); and a multitude of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Gary attended Bell School in Bell, Florida, where he was on the Bell Bulldog basketball team.  Gary was a veteran who served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Era as a sharpshooter (honorable discharge). Gary retired from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Department where he had a successful career and held the positions of Major and Captain at the Alachua County Department of the Jail.

Gary was very involved with his daughter’s sports teams, but especially coaching her from t-ball to high school softball. Gary was an avid outdoorsman who spent much of his time in nature. He loved to take Nike and Alexandra into the woods to look for arrowheads. In Gary’s earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers, cousins and friends. Later in life he enjoyed driving through the woods looking for deer or calling a turkey. The woods were his peaceful place.

The family is planning a celebration of Gary’s life to be held at Mount Horeb Church in Gilchrist County. COVID protocols will be followed. There will be no gathering with food after the service. The family will post the day and time of the service soon.  The family thanks everyone for understanding and celebrating Gary’s life with them.
