Herbert Cooke

Herbert Leslie Devereux Cooke of Alachua, Florida passed away on November 21, 2022 at his home of natural causes.  He was born on November 10, 1932 in Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua.  He joined the military at the ripe age of 17.  He married Mavis Cooke on December 10, 1953 in St. George Parrish, England.

He retired as a Chief Master Sargent from the Air Force after 23 years of service but not before earning his Master’s degree in Human Resource Management.  He worked in the civil service for another 20 years before he finally retired to Alachua, Florida.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mavis B. Cooke; oldest son, Howard (Kelly) Cooke of Georgia; daughter, Heather Cooke of Florida; youngest son, David Cooke of Florida; two grandchildren, Kaylee Cooke and Kolton Cooke.
