Kathryn Schlaug Fink died on November 3, 2018 at the age of 85. The youngest of five children, she was born in Axtel, KY on April 17, 1933 to Joseph Willis Fentress and Jesse Pauline Rose. Kathy graduated from Nazareth School of Nursing at St. Joseph’s Infirmary in Louisville, KY in 1955 and held a license as a registered nurse for fifty years.

Kathy and her family moved to Florida in 1959 and she worked at Mercy Hospital in Miami for over 25 years. Kathy and her husband, Sonny Schlaug, had four children: M. Lynn Miller (Brent), Maurice Schlaug II, Beverly Bunn (Tim) and R. Jeffrey Schlaug (Johnon). She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Joseph H. Fink, her children, her grandchildren: Dhira and Dane, and three great granddaughters: Lali, Amani and Anika; and a brother, Clinton Fentress.

Kathy was a devoted member of St. Madeleine’s Catholic Church in High Springs and an active member of the church choir for nineteen years. Kathy has volunteered in local elementary schools, St. Madeleine’s Prayer Tree and Catholic Charities / Outreach. She enjoyed reading, gardening and sewing.

Kathy was a warm and loving person who demonstrated the true meaning of being a Christian. She will be greatly missed by a large number of friends and her beloved family.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Madeleine Catholic Church, 17155 NW US Hwy 441, High Springs, FL, 32643.

A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, December 1st, at St. Madeleine Catholic Church in High Springs, Florida, with a Remembrance Service beginning at 10:30 am and a Memorial Mass beginning at 11:30 am. She will be interred in Kentucky at a later date.
