On July 10th, 2021, Raymond Lamont Denton went home to Jesus at age 86, surrounded by his loved ones. The sun rose and the world welcomed Ray on November 8th 1934 in Fayetteville, North Carolina, making the world became a little brighter. Ray lived a full and warm life, filled with joy. He was an avid fisherman and loved the game of golf. Ray was a proud man and worked hard to provide for his family as a truck driver for many years and enjoyed wood working. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving husband and father, throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him.

Ray was predeceased by his father W. C. Denton and mother Annie Belle Whitaker-Denton, brother Barnie, and his 3 sisters Melba, Barbara, and Joanne.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Joanne Denton, of over 19 years; his daughter Martha Ray Jenkins (John); his sister Carlene Arban; his brother Mike Denton; 3 grandchildren Angela Jenkins, April Cowdrey (Steve), Stephen Jenkins; 5 stepchildren Sheree, Cynthia, Lisa, Joel, and Donna; and his son in law, friend, and caretaker Randy Wells. Ray has 13 step grandchildren and 9 step great-grandchildren that will miss him dearly.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 12:00 pm at Shiloh Baptist Church in Fort White, Florida. The burial will follow the service at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.
