Rita Koon Sheppard, 64, of High Springs, FL, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2020.

Rita was born in High Springs, FL on November 20, 1955. She attended Santa Fe High School in Alachua, FL.

Rita is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Fletcher (William) of Lake City, FL and Jennifer Pittsley (Chris) of Summerfield, FL; mother, Nita Koon of Ft. White, FL; sister, Kathy Purvis of Ft. White, FL; brother Mike Koon of Lake City, FL; ex- husband, David Sheppard of Summerfield, FL; grandchildren Jerry, Chris, Jayden, Madison, Leah, Jordyn, Alexzander and Cameron.

She is preceded in death by her father, James Koon; brother, Larry Koon, and sister Sharon Douglass.

The memorial service will be on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 144 SE Montrose Ave, Lake City, FL.  Burial will follow with close friends and family at a later date at Mt. Horeb Cemetery, 3449 NE CR 340, High Springs, FL.

    My heart and prayers go out to the family.Rita was like a sister to me .she was the best of the best could not ask for a better friend..love you did miss you.give Larry my love and you two fly with the angels.we never got to take our road trip but I will in memory of you.rest in peace …love ya your best friend /did Beronica
