Robert Eugene Dillon age 83 of High Springs, Florida, passed away suddenly at his home September 18, 2015. He was born on November 2, 1931, in Muncie, Indiana, to Clinton E. and Elizabeth W. Dillon. He graduated from Marion High School in Marion, Indiana, and attended Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. His wife, formerly Betty Jean Long Adamson, preceded him in death in October, 2012.
Prior to moving to High Springs in 1994 he managed paint stores in Wabash, Valparaiso, and Warsaw Indiana. After his move to High Springs, he served as a crossing guard for High Springs Elementary School for four years.
He was active in the Boy Scouts of America for several years. In his spare time he loved to fish. He was a fan of Marion and Valparaiso High School sports as well as the Butler Bulldogs.
He was a life member of Kiwanis International, with affiliations to Kiwanis clubs in Wabash, Valparaiso, and Warsaw, Indiana and Lake City, Florida. He was also a member the Chamber of Commerce in both Valparaiso and High Springs. He was a member of the Mikesville Presybertian Church in Lake City, Florida.
He is survived by one son, Ron of Valparaiso, Indiana, a daughter, Rebecca Nunnelee of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and stepdaughters Carol Paradise of Roswell, Georgia, and Liz Iverson of Sarasota, Florida. He is also survived by five grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm, September 26 at the High Springs Cemetery with Pastor Patrick Gimenez of Victory Springs Baptist Church officiating.
