Rosemary “Rosie” Swearingen Brown, 82, of Fort White, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.  Rosie was born in Augusta, Georgia, on May 24, 1941 to Leonard and Estelle Swearingen.  Rosie was married to Jake Brown for over 50 years.

Rosie worked as a school crossing guard for the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.  She was the first Councilwoman for the City of Fort White.  She was a Girl Scout leader, enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and friends.

Rosie is survived by her son, Jake (Joan) Brown; daughter, Valerie (Emery) Thrift; brothers, Jerry (Brenda) Swearingen and David (Judy) Moroney; granddaughters, Caroline Brown and Starlena (Brad) Ruby; and great-grandsons, Braxton Ruby and Bryson Ruby.

Rosie is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Estelle Swearingen and her husband, Jake Brown.

The graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the Fort White Cemetery, Fort White, Florida.  The visitation will be held on Monday, September 5, 2022 at Evans Carter Funeral Home, 18724 High Springs Main Street, High Springs, Florida.
