Shirley A. White, 88, long time resident of High Springs, Florida passed away on March 17, 2020.  She was born in Hollywood, Florida on April 21, 1931 to Elmer and Leona Johnson.

Shirley was married to Robert White on May 3, 1969; they were married for 50 years.

She worked in Miami for Burdine’s department stores for 27 years and ERA Trend Realty in Gainesville for 18 years.

She enjoyed growing orchids, teaching Sunday School at the First Baptist Church in High Springs, listening to great gospel music (especially Jimmy Swaggert), and getting together with friends. The ’74 Club met regularly after Sunday night church for playing cards and fellowship … no gambling! She was also active in the Florida Baptist Children’s Home.

She is survived by her husband, Robert White; Michael and his son, Michael; many nieces and nephews, as well as many close friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Elmer Johnson.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there will not be a visitation.  A private, family only graveside service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2020 at the High Springs Cemetery.  A public memorial service may be held at a later date.
