Virginia “Gina” V. Diedeman

Virginia Diedeman passed away at the age of 93 on May 30, 2021. Virginia was born in Robbinsville, NC on April 5, 1928 to Kenneth and Margaret Tribby.

She moved to High Springs in 1950 after graduating from the University of Florida and began teaching kindergarten at High Springs Elementary School.  She later became a school librarian retiring from Union County High School in Lake Butler.

Virginia was married to Tom Diedeman for 63 years. Virginia and Tom traveled extensively visiting every state in the United States as well as all seven continents. Poe Springs was one of her favorite spots where she spent many days swimming with her husband, children and grandchildren.  She and Tom enjoyed walking two miles a day around the City of High Springs each morning.

Virginia enjoyed performances by the Gainesville Community Band.  She was an avid Gator basketball and football fan.  She belonged to the High Springs Garden Club, the Friendship Circle, AARP, Springhill Methodist Church, the Kiwanis Club and the Rotary Ann Club.

Virginia is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Tom.  She is survived by daughters, Linda (Tom) Sorrells and Nancy (Greg) Gillman; son, Tommy (Bridgett) Diedeman; grandchildren, Matthew, David, Brianna, Katie, Tom and Tiffany; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home or Spring Hill Methodist Church.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on June 13, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church of High Springs.  The family will receive visitors following the service.
